It's here! Mardi Gras is finally upon us, and there are a seemingly infinite number of raucous events to go with it. We've got some of those, but if that's not your thing, why not learn how to make a pizza, or treat yourself with a pre-Oscars party? Check out our food-related recommendations after the jump.

Friday (Feb. 28)
The St. Louis Boats & Sports Show is the perfect places to insulate yourself from Mardi Gras. Anchors & Ales is a beer-tasting event at the expo. Sample ten four-ounce St. Louis craft beers like O'Fallon Brewery, Cathedral Square and 4 Hands Brewery. From 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. Tickets are $20 per person, which gets you 10 samples, a tasting glass and admission to the show, available here.
We're all about Missouri wines here, but these Gold Coast vinos have St. Louis on the label -- they won gold at the 1904 World's Fair. Taste a red blend, cabernet sauvignons and an unoaked chardonnay from California labels Hoopla and Liparita with perfectly paired cheese and salami. From 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Wine and Cheese Place in Rock Hill. It's an open house, so admission (and samples!) are free.
Saturday (Mar. 1)
Y'all know the drill. It's gonna be cold, but when did that ever stop us? There are plenty of heated tents and outdoor bars: the Bud Light Tent, of course, and offerings from your favorite Soulard watering holes like Molly's, Joanie's Pizzeria, John D. McGurk's and lots more. Or you can just bundle up and head down for free. Check out the full schedule here.
Believe it or not, it's time to start thinking about planting those spring seeds. Bring a packet of your favorite seeds, your own or store bought, to swap with someone else. You can trade tools as well. Slow Food St. Louis, the Sproutbox Project, SeedGeeks, Sustainable in St. Louis and other organizations will be on hand to facilitate the trades and maybe teach you a thing or two. The annual sausage supper is served family style, but carry out is also available. Enjoy French sausage, mashed potatoes and gravy sauerkraut, peas with spatzl, cooked apples, bread and dessert. Pastry chef Simone Faure is celebrating Chouquette's first year with several events, but we can't resist an Oscar party. The awards aren't until Sunday, but stop by the shop for desserts inspired by the year's best movies, plus desserts from the Wolfgang Puck After Party. From 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission is free.
Sunday (Mar. 2)
Learn to make your own pizza -- yep, even toss it -- from the experts at Dewey's. Pizza School events each benefit a different charity. Today's class is giving 100 percent of its proceeds to Camp Rainbow. There are seatings every half hour from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Registration is required; it's $25 per person.
