Overview: In the mood for a vegetarian sammie? Blues City Deli has got you covered, with four of 'em to choose from (a lot more than most sandwich shops). Owner Vinny Valenza has been looking out for vegetarians for years, and his veg-Italian creations are renowned in Benton Park. Just because it's vegetarian doesn't exactly mean it's on the diet -- in the Italian tradition, Valenza's creations include a lot of (delicious) cheese.

Highlights: Blues City Deli's panino fresco ($5.75) is yummy olive goodness. Provolone, homemade olive salad and a thick piece of mozzarella are sandwiched between two pieces of muffuletta, and dressed with tomato, onion and Italian vinegar oil. The saltiness and savoriness of the homemade olive salad is nicely set off by the freshness of the mozzarella.

Another customer favorite is the veggie reuben ($5.50) -- that is, a reuben sans corned beef. It brings toasted rye or sourdough (your choice), loaded with tomato, pickles, Swiss cheese, sauerkraut and thousand island dressing.
