If there are two things Gut Check loves, it's dessert and booze. Oh, and rooftops. Put those three together, and you've got Cielo's (999 North Second Street; 314-881-5800) A Taste of Summer event. The dessert and cocktail tasting on Thursday, August 15 will feature some of our favorite St. Louis pastry chefs and benefits the St. Louis Children's Hospital.
Guests will get an inside look at Cielo's pastry shop and the Gaja Wine room. Cielo's own Fabrizio Schenardi will be baking, as well as Nathaniel Reid from the Ritz-Carlton (100 Carondelet Plaza, Clayton; 314-863-6300), Simone Faure from La Patisserie Chouquette (1626 Tower Grove Avenue; 314-932-7935), Christy Augustin from Pint Size Bakery & Coffee (3825 Watson Road; 314-645-7142) and Anne Croy from Pastaria (7734 Forsyth Boulevard; 314-862-6603).
There will also be cocktails -- we named Cielo's martini the best in town in 2011 -- and of course, that beautiful view. A Taste of Summer is 6-9 p.m. at Cielo, on the eighth floor of the Four Seasons Hotel. There's complimentary valet parking, and tickets are $85 per person. Call 314-881-5759 to make your reservation.
