Bar Louie announced Monday that it is opening a third venue in a new development in St. Charles. Right now, there are locations in the Central West End (14 Maryland Plaza; 314-678-3385) and Kirkwood (110 South Kirkwood Road; 314-238-2300). The complex will be at I-70 and South Fifth Street.

Prasino (1520 South Fifth Street; 636-277-0202) and Tucanos (1520 South Fifth Street #100; 636-724-4499) are already open at Streets of St. Charles, as well as the county's first Five Guys Burgers and Fries (1520 South Fifth Street #101; 636-493-6017). Phase II -- which includes Bar Louie -- will be a mix of retail, entertainment, and apartments, and it will open this fall.
Gut Check will admit that when we were first old enough to go to Bar Louie, we thought it was named that for, you know, St. Louis. It's actually a chain in twenty states. Still, we can't argue with a decent happy hour and $1 burgers on Tuesday nights. Streets of St. Charles is set to be a 400,000-square-foot, five-story development (read: expensive). The real question is, Will St. Charles embrace it?
