Strange Donuts, the eagerly anticipated and social-media-savvy doughnut shop, had hoped to open its doors at 2709 Sutton Boulevard in Maplewood on Friday, June 7 -- not coincidentally, National Doughnut Day.
Alas, the best laid plans...
Gut Check is always hungry for more restaurant news. Feed us your tips.
Corey Smale of Strange Donuts reached out to Gut Check yesterday with news that due to the plumbing and construction issues in converting a former salon space into a full-fledged bakery, Strange Donuts will have to postpone its opening until July.
However, Smale told us, that doesn't mean Strange Donuts won't celebrate National Doughnut Day.
Instead, Strange Donuts has partnered with Kuva Coffee Roasters to host a National Doughnut Day party at Kuva's facilities at 5231C Manchester Avenue. The party kicks off at 6 p.m. next Friday and will feature music from official Friend of Gut Check DJ Billy Brown, beer samples from Perennial Artisan Ales and more.
Oh and free coffee and doughnuts. If you're into that sort of thing.
