Friday (Mar. 22):
Lenten Fish Fries @ Participating area establishments Fish fry season continues on. Check out Gut Check's handy fish fry guide, complete with a handy map, to find your neighborhood's nearby fix.
33March show @ The Old Orchard Gallery Check out an art opening featuring work by 33 artists along with a special demo, food from Crabcakes Creative and drinks including Schlafly goods. 5:30 to 10 p.m.
Saturday (Mar. 23):
Taste of North County @ participating restaurants North county restaurants offer sample-sized servings of food from vendor booths. The cost is $5 per adult and $2 per child 12 and under. 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Baconfest @ Kiener Plaza Hide yo' wife. Hide yo' pigs. The first annual Baconfest features a 500-pound "hog log", plenty of sample-sized bacon inspired bites to buy and live music from Steve Ewing and Cherry Hill. Admission is free. 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Fruit Tree Seminar @ Eckert's Country Store & Farms Get a crash course in fruit tree planting and caring for homegrown orchards. No regisstration required. Free. 12 to 2 p.m.
Bounce and BBQ for the Planet @ Whole Foods Market - Town and Country Kids of all ages can enjoy a romp in a bounce house for only $2, with proceeds to benefit the Whole Planet Foundation. Barbecue will also be available for sale, with a portion of proceeds for the same cause. 12 to 3 p.m.
Sunday (Mar. 24):
Sunday Brunch @ Black Bear Bakery Black Bear Bakery hosts a special Sunday buffet to promote its Indiegogo campaign. The menu includes options such as blueberry and potato leek pancakes, tempeh scramble, candied beet kale and more. $10 for the buffet; $12 with coffee or tea. 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Irish Brunch @ Bixby's If you missed out on a corned beef fix last weekend, here's another chance to get it before it's gone! Look for traditional Irish menu items like soda bread and corned beef and cabbage, along with an assortment of desserts and champagne. The cost is $24.75 per adult, $13.50 for children 12-and-under, and free for children three and under. Call 314-575-5658 for reservations.
Home Sweet Home @ Kitchen Conservatory Make spring chick vanilla cupcakes with buttercream frosting, coconut "feathers" and nutty beaks, a berry tart with vanilla pastry cream and more. The class costs $55 per person. Register online through the Kitchen Conservatory website. 12:30 to 3 p.m.
