Mission Taco Joint, the new venture from the team behind Tortillaria (8 1/2 South Euclid Avenue; 314-361-4443) and Milagro Modern Mexican (20 Allen Avenue, Webster Groves; 314-962-4300), opened for business yesterday afternoon at 6235 Delmar Boulevard. When Gut Check stopped by shortly after the front doors were unlocked to say hello and welcome to the neighborhood (Gut Check International Headquarters being located a convenient, taco-calorie-burning walk away), there were already a few customers bellied up to the bar.
Gut Check is always hungry for more restaurant news. Feed us your tips.
Mission Taco Joint is open from 4 p.m. until late Tuesday through Sunday. How late? Owner and chef Jason Tilford -- who, by the way, will be defending his title at this year's Riverfront Times Iron Fork chef competition -- told us he hopes to keep things going through 1 a.m. And not only can you order inside the restaurant, but there is also a walk-up window on Delmar for those returning home or to their cars after a concert or other nearby event.
We'll have a more in-depth First Look of Mission Taco Joint next week. In the meantime, page through to take a look at the restaurant's menu.
