We learned last fall that the St. Louis area was almost certain to receive a third location of Whole Foods Market -- and the first within the city limits. Specifically, we learned that Mills Properties reportedly had a letter of intent from Whole Foods to open in the ground floor of a new building at the currently vacant corner of North Euclid and West Pine Avenues in the Central West End.

At the time, Whole Foods declined to comment on its plans (or lack thereof), as per the company's usual policy.
Yesterday, however, the company released its financial report for its first fiscal quarter (link PDF), and tucked away among all the numbers was this information (emphasis added):
The Company recently signed 11 new leases averaging 38,800 square feet in size in Toronto, Canada; Berkeley, CA; Los Angeles, CA; West Palm Beach, FL; Lafayette, LA; New Orleans, LA; Westford, MA; St. Louis, MO; Cherry Hill, NJ; Colleyville, TX; and Newport News, VA. These stores currently are scheduled to open in fiscal year 2014 and beyond.
We have calls in to both Whole Foods and Mills Properties for more information. More as we learn it. Meanwhile, you might want to start scoping out parking spots now.
