Gut Check's radar pinged loudly when we saw the following tweets from Eric Brenner, whose career as a chef and consultant has included numerous St. Louis restaurants, most notably the late, lamented Moxy Bistro, Riverfront Times' "Best New Restaurant" in 2004 and our "Best Restaurant to Die in the Past Year" in 2010.
Brenner moved to Manhattan last year to serve as the "chief culinary officer" for BOLD Organics, a company that makes gluten- and dairy-free pizzas.
When Gut Check spoke with him this morning, he confirmed that he's moved back to St. Louis -- and that, while he continues to work with BOLD, he is also working to open a new restaurant here.
Brenner didn't want to go into specifics about his new downtown endeavor just yet. However, he promises that an official announcement is imminent. More on that as we have it.
