Tidbits: Tortillaria, Lampert's BBQ Return; Cristo's Departs

- Tortillaria (8 1/2 South Euclid Avenue; 314-361-4443) reopened this week after a brief remodeling. The Central West End Mexican restaurant closed in December for a series of renovations, including the installation of a new kitchen floor and updated ventilation and fire protection systems. If you've never visited Tortillaria, might Gut Check suggest the guacamole? Or, as we dubbed it a few months back, St. Louis' "Best Guacamole".

- The Lamperts are back in the barbecue business. A little over a year after the Rock Hill location of Lampert's Plush Pig Barbecue shuttered, George Mahe of St. Louis Magazine reports that Larry Lampert and his daughter and business partner, Angie Lampert, will convert their latest venture, Mister Lunch (11658 Dorsett Road, Maryland Heights; 314-291-0303), which opened only a few months ago, into Lampert's BBQ. Look for the new restaurant to debut next month.

- Evan Benn of the Post-Dispatch reports that after 49 years in business, Cristo's Restaurant (8901 Riverview Boulevard, north St. Louis County; 314-388-0700) has closed. New owners plan to open a soul-food restaurant called Soul Peppers in the location.
