- A dinner reservation at Farmhaus (3257 Ivanhoe Avenue; 314-647-3800) is one of the toughest to obtain in St. Louis. That's no surprise. Not only is Kevin Willmann's restaurant one of our town's very best, it's also a) very small and b) open for dinner only Wednesday through Saturday.
Farmhaus can't expand its dining room to accomodate the crush of holiday diners, but general manager Eric Scholle informs us today that the restaurant will expand its hours: For the month of December, Farmhaus will open for dinner on Tuesdays. In addition, the restaurant will relax its limit on the number of diners in a party; previously, it capped party size at four.
Scholle tells Gut Check that Farmhaus will see how the changes go in December before deciding whether to continue them into the new year.
- As we mentioned this morning, the national food-bloging empire Eater is celebrating its "National Cocktail Week". On Monday, the site included Taste (4584 Laclede Avenue; 314-361-1200) among its "38 Essential Cocktail Bars" nationwide.
Today, Eater returns to St. Louis, naming Blood & Sand (1500 St. Charles Street; 314-241-7263) one of the "21 Hottest Cocktail Bars Across the U.S." Blood & Sand's company on the list include Pouring Ribbons, a New York City establishment from the team behind the fabled Death & Co., and the Aviary, the Chicago cocktail bar from famed avant-garde chef Grant Achatz.
