First, Spence & Co. of Brockton, Massachusetts, has announced a voluntary recall of four-ounce packages of its New York-Style Nova Lox for potential listeria contamination.
According to the press release, while the product went through a distributor in Missouri (among other states), it isn't available at any retail locations in the state. It is, however, available for retail purchase in Illinois.
The recalled packages have lot number 9720704.
Completely separately -- as lox and peanut butter absolutely should be -- Frito-Lay has announced a voluntary recall of its Grandma' Peanut Butter Sandwich Crème cookie and Grandma's Peanut Butter Mini Sandwich Crème cookies.
No contamination here. Instead the cookies might contain undeclared milk and egg allergens in, we kid you not, an "artificial butter flavor ingredient".
The recalled packages are 3.025-ounce packages of Grandma's Peanut Butter Sandwich Crème cookies with a UPC of 28400-00153 and a sell-by date of March 12, 2013, and 1.71-ounce packages of Grandma's Peanut Butter Mini Sandwich Crème cookies with a UPC code of 28400-00901 and a sell-by date of May 21, 2013.
