Only three weeks ago Kim Tucci and Joe Fresta converted their year-old restaurant Tucci & Fresta's Trattoria and Bar (15 North Central Avenue, Clayton; 314-725-6588) into a location of their Pasta House Co. chain.

George Mahe of St. Louis Magazine breaks the news this afternoon that this new Pasta House Co. will close after service tomorrow, September 15.

Tucci tells Mahe that he knew from the get-go that there wouldn't be enough business, especially at dinner, to sustain the operation.

The news has no bearing on the numerous other area locations of the Pasta House Co.

The closing means that for the time being the west side of that block of North Central in Clayton will have four shuttered restaurant spaces: the short-lived Pasta House Co.; the former SanSai Japanese Grill and Il Vicino spaces at 39 and 41 North Clayton, respectively, neither of which reopened after a fire two years ago; and the former ZuZu Handmade Mexican Food space at 31 North Clayton, which has also been vacant for a few years now.
