Tidbits from Kaldi's, the Grove, Vino Nadoz

A few more items from a very, very busy news week:

- Kaldi's Coffee Roasting Company is a finalist in the coffee category of the second annual Good Food Awards, a national competition judged by food producers, farmers, grocers and journalists to honor (and Gut Check is quoting the Good Food Awards here) "delicious, respectful of the environment, and connected to communities and cultural traditions."

Other Missouri finalists with which you might be familiar are Goatsbeard Farm of Harrisburg in the cheese category and Patric Chocolate of Columbia in the chocolate category -- a category that Patric won last year. The winners will be announced next month.

- Sauce and the Post-Dispatch both have details of a new pub for the former Newstead Tower Public House space at 4353 Manchester Avenue in Forest Park Southeast's Grove district. O'Shay's Pub will feature American and Irish fare, including at least one fusion item: an "Irish slinger."

- Finally, Sauce reports that chef Amy Zupanci has parted ways with Vino Nadoz (16 The Boulevard, Richmond Heights; 314-726-0400). Zupanci, who previously owned and operated Fond in Edwardsville, lllinois, tells Sauce that she is seeking work in California.
