There are plenty of ways to get barbecue and fireworks fixes this holiday weekend. Check out the Red, White and Brew Bash at Llywelyn's in St. Charles or visit Fair St. Louis. Alternatively, avoid the hustle and bustle of big crowds altogether by checking out winery deals at Granite City Food and Brewery or Stone Hill Winery.
Friday (July 1):
Bye Bye Liver @ Atomic Cowboy's Fox Hole Pub Theater Company from Chicago presents the comedy Bye Bye Liver: The St. Louis Drinking Play. Tickets are $14 and can be reserved online or by calling 314-827-4185. 8 to 9:30 p.m.
Saturday (July 2): Blueberry Festival @ The Daily Bread Festivities include bluegrass music, contests, raffles, games and crafts. Local fruit comes from from Knutson's Country Harvest in the form of fresh-picked pints, breads, pastries, smoothies, lemonade and more. Free admission. Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Food for Thought @ Contemporary Art Museum St. Louis Hollyberry Catering will present a Spanish-inspired tasting menu based on the background of exhibiting artist, Francisco Goya. Free. 12:30 to 1:30 p.m.
Annual Crawfish Boil @ Off Broadway This third yearly celebration features the return of local punky bluegrass aficionados The Monads along with the Dock Ellis Band and Porter Hall. Tickets are $10-13. Doors at 7 p.m.
Sunday (July 3): Fair St. Louis @ The Gateway Arch St. Louis' biggest Independence Day celebration features air shows, live music, a cultural stage, fireworks and, of course, plenty of summer treats from a variety of vendors. Free admission. Saturday, July 2 from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Sunday and Monday, July 3 and 4 from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.
Case Wine Deal @ Stone Hill Winery Purchase a case of any wine, including mixed cases, from Stone Hill Winery at full price and receive an exact duplicate case for free. Take a tour of the Hermann winery while you're there. The deal runs from Friday to Monday.
