Tank the English Bulldog safe at home with his dad, O'Malley's Irish Pub owner Tommy Gage
: (Friday, May 27, 6:45 p.m.) Tank
the English bulldog returned to Tommy Gage
and the O'Malley's Irish Pub
family this evening. He appears somewhat perplexed by his ordeal, but in good health otherwise.
Biddy Gage, the mother of O'Malley's owner Tommy, says that the break in the case came when a nurse from Watson Animal Clinic who had treated Tank and his brother, Bailey, in the past recognized Tank as she drove by a house in Soulard.
Details of Tank's return remain sketchy at this hour, though as I understand it, the person who had Tank -- and who was arrested by the St. Louis Police Department -- wasn't the same person who'd stolen him. More on that as I learn it.
"These dogs are like my kids," Biddy Gage says. "I haven't been able to sleep."
She adds that Bailey, who is older, stopped eating after Tank's disappearance. She says it was clear that Bailey wanted to know "'Where's my brother?'"
Fox 2 News was at O'Malley's when Tank was returned. Watch the channel's 9 p.m. newscast for video.
The original story is after the jump.
Look. We get it. It's late, you've had a few drinks, your favorite bar is crowded. Maybe you grab the wrong set of keys or phone or purse. But a dog? -- and not some little lapdog, either, but an English bulldog?
Sadly, it's true: Someone has abducted Tank
, the English bulldog, from O'Malley's Irish Pub (1900 Cherokee Street; 314-762-9308)
The theft of Tank, who belongs to O'Malley's owner Tommy Gage, has left O'Malley's bartender Chris Carter "pretty much speechless."
"We just want our dog back," he says.
Tank is a three-year-old English bulldog, approximately 73 pounds, brown and white. He answers to Tank or Boy. When abducted, he was wearing a green and black dog collar with shamrocks on it.
If you have any information about Tank's whereabouts, please contact O'Malley's immediately.
