The Tomato Fest isn't just about buying produce. Nor will it be about building the world's largest BLT, as the restaurant did last year. This year will feature lots of tomato-based competitions: contests for who can eat the most BLTs, make the best tomato dish, create awesome tomato art and grow the oddest-shaped tomato as well as which kid can make the best tomato recipe without adult assistance.
And since it's Iron Barley, there will be plenty of live music and a menu filled with owner/chef Tom Coghill's tomato creations.
The night before, celebrate tomatoes in style at the Tomato Ball. The $75 tickets include a sit-down dinner, wine and beer and door prizes, with live music from Big Bamou and the Baker McClem Band.
