Did You Know There Is a National Grocery Bagging Contest? Now There Is a Movie, Too

Via Eater comes a trailer for Ready, Set, Bag!, a documentary charting the course of several grocery baggers toward the national Best Grocery competition, held in Las Vegas (!) by the National Grocers Associaction.

My first thought after watching this trailer? "This can't possibly be real." It reminded me of this awful, awful staged "documentary" called American Shopper about a made-up activity called "aisling" that combines grocery shopping with themed routines. You have to see it to believe it, but you shouldn't see it because it's the sort of movie that makes you want to go Oedipus on your own eyes.

At any rate, this contest is real, as is the documentary. According to its website, its only screenings so far have been in California. Which is a shame because regular Gut Check readers know exactly who needs to watch this.
