One More Thing about Sammy's Beach Bar & Grill

I neglected to mention this in my review of Sammy's Beach Bar & Grill, but after being reminded of it while viewing Jennifer Silverberg's Back of the House slideshow, I had to say something: The restaurant's habit of garnishing sandwiches and other dishes with two whole jalapeños (or, as in the photo at right, a jalapeño and a hot pepper) is freaking ridiculous.

Don't get me wrong: I love jalapeños. I love jalapeños served on a burger. And if I'm really, really in the mood for jalapeños on my burger, and a raw jalapeño just happens to be on my plate, I might even take the time to slice it.

But judging by the number of untouched jalapeños I saw discarded on plates at Sammy's, I'm in a very small minority. Capsacin freak that I am, even I didn't want to pair jalapenos with almost every dish I had at Sammy's. As you can see in the photo, the jalapeño garnish isn't especially visually striking, either. It's just unnecessarily wasteful.
