It's that time of year: the James Beard Foundation has begun its open call for nominations for its annual awards. Nominees will be announced in late March, and this year's awards ceremony will be held in May. You can register and then submit your votes at this page.
The two categories in which St. Louis diners should consider nominating a chef (or three) are Rising Star Chef of the Year and Best Chef: Midwest. Last year, Gerard Craft of Niche made the list of semifinalists in the former category, while Michael Roberts of Atlas was a semifinalist in the latter.
