Michael Pollan on Sustainability

Frequent commenter Dan D. pointed out this New York Times piece by Michael Pollan that I totally, inexcusably missed while putting together today's Morning Brew.

It's essential reading: Pollan brings together his ongoing concern for our eating habits (as displayed in his must-read The Omnivore's Dilemma) and two of the year's most worrisome developments: a deadly new drug-resistant strain of Staphylococcus bacteria and the mysterious disappearance of honeybees that has come to be known as colony collapse disorder.

(Former RFT staff writer Malcolm Gay wrote about colony collapse disorder earlier this year. Click here to read his article.)

Pollan fans take note: His new book, In Defense of Food: An Eater's Manifesto, will be published on January 1. You can download the intro and first chapter at Pollan's Web site. (Just click on the book title.)
