I swung by the Central West End this afternoon to check out the two new restaurants that Chicago-based Levy Restaurants is opening in Maryland Plaza: ~scape and Crêpes, Etc. I couldn't really tell how close to opening Crêpes: Etc. is, but ~scape looks very close. (As I mentioned last week, ~scape is holding a sneak preview later this month.)
According to the Levy Restaurants Web site, the executive chef at both restaurants is David Frattini. Most recently, Frattini was the Director of Education and Lead Instructor at L'École Culinaire. He has also worked at Dierdorf & Hart's and the Restaurant at the Ritz-Carlton.
Here are some of the dishes on ~scape's dinner menu: prime rib of veal, wood-grilled lamb porterhouse, roasted crispy duck leg with moscato grapes and a twenty-ounce aged prime ribeye steak. Entrée prices range from $18.95 to $42.95 (the ribeye).
Here are a few of the savory crêpes at Crêpes: Etc.: braised beef short ribs, caramelized onions and a roquefort-butter sauce; wood-roasted chanterelle, oyster and black-trumpet mushrooms; broccoli, caramelized onions, French ham and mornay sauce.
Sweet crêpes include the following: nutella; apples, brown sugar and cinnamon; banana, brown sugar and dark rum.
