STL Grillzz Wins #314Day With Incredible Arch Grill

Let the rest of the world celebrate Pi Day. Here in St. Louis, March 14 is 314 Day, and we love the excuse to revel in hometown pride.

But while we're happy to wear our Cardinals jersey-and-cap combo everywhere we go, turns out we've been missing out on the ultimate St. Louis accessory: A  14 karat gold grill depicting, yes, the Gateway Arch. The grill even includes the Old Courthouse in the middle — just like you'd see heading east on Market Street.

STL Grillzz (5898 Delmar Boulevard, 314-441-6838), the four-year-old shop in Skinker-DeBaliviere specializing in dental ornamentation, posted a photo of this beauty on social media in honor of 314 Day — and immediately had the whole town cheering.

Owner West Said tells us that he actually introduced the grill in-store awhile ago; he just waited til 314 Day to release it online. In fact, he says, he's already sold three.

"They're out there," he tells us. And not custom ordered, either: "These are just random people who came in and put it on and wanted to keep going." One customer, he's pretty sure, bought the grill as a piece of home decor. But he believes the other two are now out and about showing off the Arch every time they smile.

These grills aren't cheap. Said says the 14 Karat version will set you back $2,200. However, you can get a gold-plated silver version for $800 if your St. Louis pride is bigger than your bank balance — or even settle for a $200 Arch that adorns a single tooth.

Even with the Arch grill's popularity, Said says he has no desire to introduce a series depicting other cities (say, the U.S. Capitol building or the Transamerica Building for San Francisco?). "We're from St. Louis, so we'll keep doing the St. Louis one," he says.

Check the shop out on Instagram for more examples of Said's work.
