Here's one you might want to mark on your calendar: The St. Louis Symphony is offering a free concert in Forest Park on Wednesday, September 13.
As the summer bustle begins to wind down, you'll want to bring your friends and a blanket to Art Hill. This concert begins at 7 p.m., followed by a fireworks show to end the night. Bring food for a picnic or order from one of the vendors on site.
The show will feature many classical favorites and highlights from the 2017 to 2018 season, led by conductor Gemma New. The season includes
crowd pleasers Beethoven's Fifth Symphony
and Carmina Burana
, though you'll need to be there to know if either makes the bill.
Not only is the St. Louis Symphony one of the finest orchestras in the world, it is also the second oldest, and coming up on its 137th season. And hey: It's been hosting free concerts in Forest Park for more than four decades. Now that's
something to celebrate.
