Presenting St. Lou Fringe's Breakthrough Festival

In this week's feature story, Em Piro Builder, Aimee Levitt presents a collective oral history of Fringe Festivals on the eve of St. Louis' inaugural one. The four-day festival of more than 80 performances from 27 theater, music, performance art and dance acts, St. Lou Fringe's breakthrough season is a full immersion introduction to the regional art community.

It all takes place in Grand Center at the Kranzberg Art Center's Black Box Theater (501 North Grand Boulevard), Grand Center Cabaret (634 North Grand Boulevard; 314-289-1500), Nash Motor Company Building (3000 Locust Street), Strauss Park (Washington & North Grand boulevards) and Fubar (3108 Locust Street; 314-289-9050). A $5 Fringe button gains you access to the festival, and additional ticket fees are charged at the door for plays (most ranging from $5 to $12).
