This year's Downtown Cinema on the Plaza outdoor film series kicks off Friday, June 3, when Maverick, Goose, Ice Man and the rest of the acrobatic aviators of 1986 swoop down to the Old Post Office during a screening of Top Gun. (Little known fact: During filming, the 5'7" Tom Cruise wore lifts in his shoes to match up during his scenes with 5'10" Kelly McGillis.)
Once you've fulfilled your collective need for speed during that showing, you can check out the remaining films during the month of June:
June 10: Almost Famous June 17: Rush Hour June 24: Shaft
Screenings begin at dusk and attendance is free. For more information, visit www.downtownstl.org.
