Had the chance to catch up with St. Louis filmmaker (and 2008 Riverfront Times' MasterMind winner) Matthew Krentz over the holidays.

As regular readers of Daily RFT know, it's been a busy year for Krentz, who finally got his basketball drama Streetballers in theaters this past summer.

Since debuting in St. Louis cinemas in August, the film has gone on to screen in Los Angeles and Kansas City. Next month the film opens in Dallas and is slated to also run this year in theaters in New York, Miami and Chicago.

And Krentz learned recently that Streetballers is one of 274 films this year that are eligible for an Academy Award.

If you haven't seen the film yet, Krentz and his fellow producers recently released the movie on DVD. It's available for purchase here
