The Maine Attraction

A little night musings

Jan 21, 2009 at 4:00 am
In John Cariani's whimsical collection of vignettes, former lovers return each other's love — they've kept it in trash bags — at the end of the affair as if it were unwanted photographs, and a woman carries in a paper bag the literal pieces of her metaphorical broken heart. Under the starry sky of the remote town of Almost, Maine, love is lost and found and pondered and savored by fragmenting married couples while ice-skating, by quirky loners in back yards and by two long-time buddies who discover their true feelings through an accident. The West End Players Guild presents Almost, Maine, at 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday (January 23 through February 1) at the Union Avenue Christian Church (733 North Union Boulevard; 314-367-0025 or www.westendplayers.org). Tickets are $15 to $18.
Fridays-Sundays. Starts: Jan. 23. Continues through Feb. 1, 2009
