JJ Midnight is a 47-year-old St. Louis native who works in video production, loves wrap-around sunglasses and tucks his T-shirts into his jeans. What does he have in common with late Queen vocalist Freddie Mercury? Both have adequate moustaches and an overly adequate ability to sing "Bicycle Race." With five area musicians at his side, Mr. Midnight has taken on the ambitious task of tributing Queen as the Bohemian Rhapsody Orchestra. The BRO has plans to evolve into a full-on theatrical production, although they will be performing in a "stripped-down" fashion at Off Broadway (meaning, without the choir and multimedia presentation). Its goals are lofty, but one listen to its demo proves that JJ Midnight's pipes are as on par with Mercury's as his mouthbrow is.
