Trips to New York City strike everyone differently. Sometimes the perpetual motion, the grittiness and the constant clatter are overwhelming, even for regular visitors; other times, travelers thrive on that energy and feel right at home. Fact is, you never know what kind of trip it’s going to be until you get there -- just ask Seth Ward Pyatt. He certainly understands that the city that never sleeps is never dull, and in his new cabaret, Notes from New York, he shares entertaining stories about characters he’s met and lessons he’s learned in the five boroughs. Show tunes and pop songs complement his tales -- think Cole Porter, Barry Manilow, Billy Joel and Alicia Keys -- and by the end of the night, we’re betting that the big city’s bright lights won’t feel so far away. Notes from New York is presented at the Kranzberg Arts Center (501 North Grand Boulevard) at 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday (August 24 and 25).
