One Last Jam

Summer's winding down. Oh, it'll be warm for a while longer, but the days are growing darker earlier, and school buses have already been spotted cruising the streets. Summer's fading, and you can't fight it — but you can say goodbye to it with a bang. Jammin' at the Zoo, the annual benefit for the Saint Louis Zoo, offers just such a bang. From 6 to 10 p.m. you can party in the friendly confines of the zoo (only if you're 21 and older, however) while listening to live music by Jake's Leg, DJ Andrew Mullins, My Own Medicine and other local musicians, sample more than 200 different wines and generally enjoy one last night under the stars. Admission is free for members of the Zoo Friends, $10 for non-members who want to pay for food and drinks a la carte, or $20 for non-friends who opt for the tasting package (good from 6 to 8 p.m. only; $10 for Zoo Friends). The zoo also offers private party areas and gourmet picnic dinners, but you must order the latter by Monday, August 24. Visit www.stlzoo.org for more details, or call 314-646-4771 for tickets.
