Movie Surprise

Friday nights spent watching movies under the stars at White Flag Projects (4568 Manchester Avenue; 314-531-3442 or www.whiteflagprojects.org) is the best summer activity that you've never bothered to check out. The gallery shows a movie projected on the side of the building that is picked by or resembles the personality of a selected artist, but the title remains a mystery until showtime. It's the perfect way to tide yourself over while the gallery is in its summer hiatus. This week the film will be selected by photographer, director and hitchhiker John Waters. Will it be a glitzy bit of trash from Hollywood's underbelly? An underground art film? An episode of The Love Boat? Only John Waters and the White Flag staff knows. Refreshments and seating are provided, but bring your bug spray and enjoy the art-house experience in the Grove. The film starts at 9 p.m., and admission is free.
