Lucinda Williams

Friday, September 16; UMB Bank Pavilion (14141 Riverport Drive, Maryland Heights)

If we lived in a World Without Tears, Lucinda Williams would be headlining "Pineola," "Greenville" and "Lafayette" instead of opening for the Allman Brothers Band. But the fact that she is gives us "Reason to Cry." We feel downright "Blue" -- not to mention "Out of Touch." (No joke, "I Lost It" when I heard "People Talkin'" about the lineup.) Williams embodies the Essence of alt-country, not to mention the "Sweet Side" of songwriting, yet everything has to be focused on Gregg Allman. (What, "He Never Got Enough Love"?) Honestly, after experiencing the "Joy" that comes from hearing her "Real Live Bleeding Fingers...." move "Right in Time," it's going to be nothing but Car Wheels on a Gravel Road for us. UMB, we hope you "Get Right with God"!

Show starts at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are $19.50 to $42.50; call 314-298-9944 for more information.
