Is it possible for football to get a bad rap? The winter war game may be the country's most popular sport, providing fodder for media dedicated to 'round-the-clock discussion of last week's game, but lately much attention's been paid to the injuries players endure, and the off-field antics of NFL players. Truth is, football's the game — not the organization that makes money from it — and high school football still catches that earnest sincerity. The Show-Me Bowl, the Missouri State Football Championship, is played today at the Edward Jones Dome (701 Convention Plaza; 314-241-1888 or www.mshsaa.org). High school teams from across the state have fought their way to play here, and the all-day games (six matchups starting at noon) are everything from classic underdog stories to old rivalries. Tickets are $11 for the day, and you can re-enter with a hand stamp and valid ticket.
