Kind of Blue

It is frustrating as hell being a St. Louis Blues fan so far this season. Yes, they're a young team, and yes, mistakes are going to be made, and yes, you can't win 'em all, but c'mon. David Backes has just one goal and one assist through twelve games? Heavyweight D.J. King is out injured for an indeterminate period of time? Shut out three times in October? The Blues' habit of falling behind early in games is in danger of becoming a modus operandi, and it's too early in the year to feel this bad about the team. But it is early still — six-sevenths of the season remains. Plenty of time left for the team to turn this around and reel off a couple six game winning streaks. And there's no time like the present: The Blues take on the Nashville Predators at 7 p.m. at the Scottrade Center (1401 Clark Avenue; 314-241-1888 or www.scottradecenter.com). It's also Salute to the Military Night; your donation of cash or non-perishable items (see a list of recommended donations at www.stlblues.com) enters you in a raffle for various Blues-related prizes, and the good karma could go a long way towards helping the 'Note get back on track. Tickets are $22 to $237.
