Just Kickin’ It

Where kids are concerned, you claim that you would do practically anything to make sure they’re OK. You already donate money to causes helping out the teeny humans, and you’re always going on those walks as an outward sign of your support. But do you have the courage to try to martial arts-style break a board for the little ones? You’ll have an opportunity to test your strength (of muscle and of will) today at the World Martial Arts Academy (4345 Telegraph Road; 314-892-9000 or www.wmaatkd-stl.com) during Kicks for Kids, a child safety festival and benefit for the Ronald McDonald House Charities. In addition to the board-breaking, you can watch martial-arts demonstrations, check out a kick-a-thon, get your face painted and grab a bite to eat -- and it’s all for the kids. Plus, the children can learn how to help themselves at a child safety class. A dollar covers admission and activities for everyone (the aforementioned board-breaking attempts cost extra -- $1 per try), and the festival runs from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
