Chances are you're not vacationing in Vatican City this year for any number of reasons ranging from personal finances in disarray to South Grand providing more opportunities to sin. That's fine. If fact that's perfect, because a good chunk of Vatican City's finest treasures are vacationing right here in St. Louis this summer. The traveling exhibition Vatican Splendors: A Journey through Faith and Art features more than 200 works of art and artifacts from the Catholic church's extensive collection, many of them on public display for the first time — and the Missouri History Museum (Lindell Boulevard and DeBaliviere Avenue; 314-746-4599 or www.mohistory.org) is the only Midwestern stop for the tour. Witness the mysteries and magic of 2,000 years of history up close and in person daily through Sunday, September 12. Tickets for Vatican Splendors are $13 to $19.50.
