Greetings, Sun

Paying homage to the scorching sun might not be first on your list of summertime activities, given how the nearby star has roasted us unrelentingly for what seems like an eternity. However, would you consider acknowledging the glowing globe on high to raise awareness for ovarian cancer? The St. Louis Ovarian Cancer Awareness’ Rise & Shine for a Cure: 108 Sun Salutations offers an opportunity to show the sun what you’re made of, while shedding light on a devastating cancer. At this fundraiser yoga instructors lead experienced yogis and newbies alike through the series of poses that comprise the sun salutation (chair yoga will accommodate those who can’t stand for long periods). Snacks will be provided, and chair masseuses will be on hand to treat those sore muscles after this major jumpstart to your yoga practice -- 108 is a lot of sun salutations after all! Rise & Shine is held at the World’s Fair Pavilion in Forest Park from 9 a.m. to noon. For more information and to register ($40), visit www.sloca.org.
