Food Fight

Each year your favorite (OK, only) local alternative weekly, Riverfront Times, plucks the best and brightest in St. Louis' culinary scene from behind the bars and out of the kitchens for Iron Fork, a celebration of our city's plethora of noteworthy edible offerings. Sample signature dishes from 30 restaurants (including Harvest, Niche and the Shaved Duck, to name a few) while an Iron Chef-style cooking competition goes down in the center of the beautiful ballroom in the St. Louis Union Station Marriott (1820 Market Street; 314-621-5262). Next comes the mixologist competition, which culminates in a party-wide sampling of the triumphant cocktail. The festivities begin at 6:30 p.m. on Thurdsay, March 22. Tickets are $35 for general admission and $75 for VIP, but buy 'em early -- the prices go up at the door. Proceeds from the evening benefit Foodbank, so not only will you leave with a happy belly of your own, but also with the contentment of knowing you've helped feed others.
