Flight from the Living Dead

Whether it’s brought about by a virus, nanobots or plan nine from outer space, there is little doubt that legions of the living dead will be upon us sooner or later. The rash of Hollywood films on the subject have done a great deal to educate the public, and the Center for Disease Control's cautionary publication “Preparedness 101: Zombie Apocalypse” offered plenty of useful tips to help keep your brains off the zombies' menu. But to be truly ready, you have to put your preparation into practice. This Saturday, survivalists will have an opportunity to test their readiness at Run For Your Lives, a zombie-infested 5K obstacle course stationed at 13712 West Highway M in Wright City. Beginning at 7 a.m., waves of zombies will attack runners every 30 minutes. $32 to $40 nets spectators access to the Safe Zone, and more than a dozen live bands at the Apocalypse Party.
