Catwalking for Cats and Dogs

It's simple: GCAPA people are some sweet, sweet people. The Granite City Association for the Protection of Animals was founded in 1972 and gets by solely on donations, its volunteers' grit and their love for the hundreds of animals the organization adopts out each year. The GCAPA is a no-kill shelter that receives no city, county, state or federal funding; you can imagine the expenses incurred caring for abandoned, feral and sick animals. Wanna help? Head to the Granite City Township Hall (2060 Delmar Avenue, Granite City, Illinois) today at 11 a.m. for a spring fashion show. Donating $10 gets you in the door and buys you lunch (served at 11:30 a.m.). Local clothing retailers show off their new warm-weather duds, and all proceeds go toward improving the GCAPA's critters' lives. Pretty women, pretty clothes, aiding needy animals — it's all good.
